Entry requirements
There are no entry requirements for this qualification.
- Providers can set their own conditions, such as a minimum age or a current job in the industry, and practical training may need a workplace placement. Check each provider above.
- Licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply to concreting in some states and territories. Also, anyone carrying out construction work must complete the general construction induction training program (White Card).
Entry recommendations
To be prepared for this course, it helps to have:
- an interest in building and construction work
- a careful approach to safety on site
- good communication skills for working in a team
- willingness to work outdoors in all weather
What will you learn?
You learn on real or closely simulated sites, because the trade is assessed in a workplace rather than a classroom alone. The course also covers the general construction skills every site worker needs: reading plans, levelling, measurements and calculations, safe work practices, and organising your own work. Concreters and concrete tilt panel fabricators are the usual jobs it leads to, and you will need a White Card before doing construction work.
