Entry recommendations
To be prepared for this course, it helps to have:
- an interest in how heavy vehicles work
- a patient approach to tracing faults
- good hand skills and attention to detail
- a willingness to follow safe work practices
What will you learn?
You learn how diesel engines, air brakes, steering, suspension and electrical systems work, and how to trace faults with a proper test strategy instead of guesswork. Much of the learning happens in a workshop alongside experienced technicians, with safe work practices and environmental rules built into everything you do. It suits people who enjoy mechanical problem solving and don't mind getting their hands dirty.
