Entry recommendations

To be prepared for this course, it helps to have:

  • an interest in making things on a production line
  • a careful approach to working safely around machinery
  • patience for keeping equipment and work areas clean
  • problem solving skills for when something goes wrong

What will you learn?

You learn to run production equipment safely, start up and shut down lines, keep the workplace and machinery clean, and check that the product meets quality standards. It also covers the problem solving the job demands when something goes wrong and there is no recorded fix to follow, along with the communication and environmental practices that come with working in a plant. There are no entry requirements, so it suits school leavers and people moving into the industry from other work.

Units of competency (5 core, 13 elective)
