Entry requirements
There are no entry requirements for this qualification.
- Providers can set their own conditions, such as a minimum age or a current job in the industry, and practical training may need a workplace placement. Check each provider above.
- Some states and territories require a licence to work as a strata manager, and licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply in some states and territories. Check with the relevant regulatory authority before you enrol.
Entry recommendations
To be prepared for this course, it helps to have:
- an interest in how buildings and shared property are run
- patience and fairness when people disagree
- comfort with numbers, budgets and record keeping
- clear, plain speaking with owners, tenants and committees
What will you learn?
You learn to read strata plans, apply the relevant state or territory legislation, set and monitor budgets, arrange insurance and coordinate repairs and maintenance across a building's life. Managing disputes between owners, tenants and committees is a substantial part of the work, so conflict handling runs through much of the study. It suits people already working in property management, real estate or building administration, though there are no formal entry requirements. Some states and territories require a licence to work as a strata manager, so check with the local regulator before you enrol.
