Entry requirements
Entry requirements are set by each provider, so check the ones you are considering.
- Providers can set their own conditions, such as a minimum age or a current job in the industry, and practical training may need a workplace placement. Check each provider above.
Entry recommendations
To be prepared for this course, it helps to have:
- an interest in travel and tourism destinations and products
- good communication skills for dealing with customers and team members
- a calm approach to solving customer service problems
- respect for people from different cultures and backgrounds
What will you learn?
You learn where to find reliable information on destinations, products and industry conditions, and how to use it when putting together itineraries, quotes or advice for customers. Alongside that sit the people-facing skills: handling customer service problems, working respectfully with travellers from different cultures, and managing conflict when it arises. The rest of the study covers the supervisory side of the job, including reading financial information, coaching newer staff and keeping work health and safety practices on track. It suits people already in the industry looking to step up, as well as career changers moving into travel agencies, tour operations, visitor information centres or resorts.

- Cultural sensitivity with travellers
- Managing conflict
- Reading financial information
