Entry recommendations
To be prepared for this course, it helps to have:
- an interest in how electronic systems work
- patience for tracking down faults methodically
- a careful approach to workplace safety
- good communication skills for working with others
What will you learn?
You learn to commission new equipment so it runs to specification, redesign existing circuits when requirements change, and track down faults when something stops working. A good part of the study covers the safety and environmental rules that apply to electrotechnology and energy sector work, plus planning your own skill development as you go. It suits people who like hands-on troubleshooting and want more technical depth than a trade qualification gives.
