Prior to commencing this qualification an individual must: have completed the following units of competency (or equivalent): AHCCHM304 Transport and store chemicals AHCCHM307 Prepare and apply chemicals to control pest, weeds and diseases AHCPCM308 Identify and select plants AHCPMG301 Control weeds AHCPMG302 Control plant pests, diseases and disorders AHCSOL304 Implement soil improvements for garden and turf areas AHCWHS302 Contribute to workplace health and safety processes OR have relevant equivalent skills and knowledge acquired through participation in the horticulture industry.

Who is this qualification for?

It suits people who already know the practical side of horticulture and want to move into managing a team, a site or a horticulture business. It builds on plant, soil and pest control skills with management work. Graduates work with a fair amount of independence, analysing information and making judgement calls on complex jobs.

Do I need experience or other qualifications first?

You must have completed seven units (or equivalent): AHCCHM304, AHCCHM307, AHCPCM308, AHCPMG301, AHCPMG302, AHCSOL304 and AHCWHS302. Or you can show relevant equivalent skills and knowledge gained in the horticulture industry. Individual providers can set their own conditions, so check with the provider you choose.
