Conveyor Belt Splicer resume template preview: an Australian example with a professional summary, key skills, experience bullet points and education sections filled in

Which resume format should you use?

Reverse chronological

You have a steady work history. This is the format almost every recruiter and ATS expects by default.

Functional

You're changing fields or have gaps in your employment. Leads with skills rather than a job-by-job timeline.

Combination

You're early career or have worked consistently but for only a few employers. Blends a skills summary with a shorter chronological history.

This template uses the reverse chronological format: the one most conveyor belt splicers should default to, since most Australian recruiters and ATS software expect it.

Professional summary

Conveyor Belt Splicer with hands-on experience on mine sites and bulk materials handling plants, splicing fabric and steel cord belts using hot and cold vulcanising methods. Works to isolation, permit and confined space procedures in remote and exposed locations, and keeps presses, splice kits and cutting tools in serviceable condition. Focused on straight, properly cured splices that hold up under continuous load and keep the line running to schedule.

Key skills

  • Hot and cold vulcanising splice preparation and curing
  • Steel cord and fabric belt splicing
  • Belt inspection, wear assessment and misalignment correction
  • Mechanical fastener installation and emergency belt repair
  • Isolation, lock out tag out and permit to work compliance
  • Confined space entry and working at heights
  • Vulcanising press setup, operation and routine maintenance
  • Belt splicing kit and rubber cutting knife handling
  • Laser alignment tools and belt tracking adjustment
  • CMMS work order and maintenance record entry (SAP PM)

Experience: example bullet points

  • Spliced fabric and steel cord conveyor belts using hot vulcanising presses, completing belt changeouts inside planned shutdown windows.
  • Prepared belt ends by measuring, squaring, stripping covers and cutting splice steps so joints met alignment and step tolerance on first inspection.
  • Inspected belts for edge damage, cover wear and splice lifting, logging defects in SAP PM so repairs were planned before a failure stopped the line.
  • Corrected belt misalignment on transfer and drift conveyors using laser alignment tools, cutting repeat edge damage across the section.
  • Maintained vulcanising presses, splice kits and cutting tools, returning equipment to service after each shutdown and flagging items needing replacement.
  • Worked to isolation and permit procedures in confined and elevated locations, completing take 5 and JSA reviews with the crew before starting.
  • Coordinated with fitters, belt attendants and supervisors during shutdowns to sequence splices and hand the conveyor back by the agreed time.

Education

Certificate III in Resource Processing or Certificate III in Engineering (Mechanical Trade), combined with site inductions such as Standard 11 or an equivalent state mining induction, a current Coal Board Medical, working at heights and confined space entry training, and verification of competency (VOC) for belt splicing tasks. Many splicers enter through a traineeship or from a fitter, belt attendant or fixed plant background.

Keywords an ATS is likely to scan for

Applicant tracking systems match your resume against terms in the job ad before a person ever sees it. Only include the ones that actually apply to your experience, but if a term below matches something you've done, use the same wording the job ad uses.
