Gaming Attendant salary in Australia
The median full-time salary for a gaming attendant is $80,000 per annum, before tax, up $16,900 since 2018.
- Pay follows the hospitality award that covers the venue, so penalty rates for nights, weekends and public holidays make up a large share of what you take home, and casual loading lifts the hourly rate in exchange for irregular hours.
- Larger clubs and casinos often pay above the award minimum to keep experienced staff on the floor.
- Beyond that, the licence you hold and the duties you are rostered to perform can move you to a higher classification, particularly once you take on supervisory or gaming manager shifts.
The median salary rose by $16,900 between 2018 and 2024; the dashed line shows a projection to 2028 based on the real ABS Wage Price Index growth rate, not a role-specific forecast.

How to negotiate a higher gaming attendant salary
- Know the market rate before you ask. The median full-time gaming attendant salary is $80,000; use that, not a guess, as your anchor, and adjust for your experience and employer.
- Lead with what's scarce, not just tenure. Skills like Regulatory compliance tend to command a premium over general gaming attendant experience, name them specifically when you ask.
- Bring a real alternative to the table. Hotel Manager pays a typical $15,000 a year more and draws on similar skills, even mentioning you're weighing it up is a legitimate data point in a pay conversation.
- Time it deliberately. Reviews, the end of a project you delivered, or taking on responsibility beyond your job description are stronger moments to ask than an arbitrary date on the calendar.
- Ask for a number, not a raise. "Based on the market rate and [specific contribution], I'd like to move to X" gets a clearer answer than "I think I deserve more."
