Entry recommendations

To be prepared for this course, it helps to have:

  • a careful approach to handling chemicals
  • confidence with basic measurements and calculations
  • good communication skills for dealing with clients

What will you learn?

You study how to test pool water and get the chemistry right, handle and store pool chemicals safely, and look after the filtration, circulation, dosing, cleaning and vacuuming systems that keep a pool running properly. The work covers domestic backyard pools as well as commercial and public facilities, and it includes the record keeping and client communication that goes with routine servicing. There are no entry requirements, so you can start without prior experience in the industry.

Units of competency (12 core, 6 elective)
