Entry requirements
Entry requirements are set by each provider, so check the ones you are considering.
- Providers can set their own conditions, such as a minimum age or a current job in the industry, and practical training may need a workplace placement. Check each provider above.
Entry recommendations
To be prepared for this course, it helps to have:
- an interest in how public sector procurement works
- a careful approach to following processes and rules
- confidence in making decisions within your authority
- good communication skills for dealing with suppliers and agencies
What will you learn?
You learn how to plan a purchase, write and release a request for offers, assess who should get the work, and then keep the contract on track. Alongside that sits the public sector side of the job: following government processes, working within your delegation, checking compliance with legislation, and managing risk. It suits someone already handling purchasing who wants to do it without close supervision, or someone moving into a procurement team.
- Public sector values and conduct
- Identifying and treating risks
- Working within delegations
- Government buying processes
- Planning procurement
- Selecting providers and managing contracts
