To be prepared for this course, it helps to have:

  • a careful approach to checking rules and paperwork
  • confidence talking with workers about safety concerns
  • patience to follow tasks through to the end

What will you learn?

You learn how to identify and assess the risks in a workplace, respond when something goes wrong, and check that the business is meeting its legal obligations. A good part of the study is about people: consulting workers, getting them involved in safety decisions, and keeping a safety management system running after it is set up. It suits someone moving into a safety role from a trade or operational background, and no prior qualification is needed to enrol.
