Entry requirements
All BSB41419 Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety core units or equivalent competencies. Equivalent competencies are predecessors to the following units which have been mapped as equivalent. BSBWHS412 Assist with workplace compliance with WHS laws BSBWHS413 Contribute to implementation and maintenance of WHS consultation and participation processes BSBWHS414 Contribute to WHS risk management BSBWHS415 Contribute to implementing WHS management systems BSBWHS416 Contribute to workplace incident response.
- Providers can set their own conditions, such as a minimum age or a current job in the industry, and practical training may need a workplace placement. Check each provider above.
Entry recommendations
To be prepared for this course, it helps to have:
- an interest in keeping people safe at work
- the confidence to lead and influence others
- good communication skills
- a practical approach to solving problems
What will you learn?
You learn to lead risk management across a whole organisation, run the investigation after a serious incident, and build the systems and reporting that keep a workplace compliant. Much of the study is about influence as much as process: getting managers and workers to take part in consultation, and making safety tools that people on the floor will actually use. It suits supervisors, team leaders and coordinators moving into a dedicated safety role, and entry assumes you have completed the Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety or can show equivalent prior study.
