To be prepared for this course, it helps to have:

  • good communication skills for working with clients and colleagues
  • a patient and adaptable approach to individual needs
  • a willingness to reflect on and improve your practice

What will you learn?

You learn how to design programs around what each person wants and needs, adapt them for clients with complex needs, and check that activities are safe and appropriate for their health. Communication and working with people from different backgrounds run through the whole course, and you finish with supervised work placement so you can put the planning into practice. It suits people already working in care or community settings who want to move into activity and lifestyle roles, as well as newcomers starting out.

Units of competency (10 core, 7 elective)
