Advertising Executive cover letter template
A structured letter with example content specific to this role. Replace the bracketed placeholders and adjust the details to the job you're actually applying for.

How to structure it
Opening
Name the role and, in one line, the strongest reason you're a fit. Skip the throat-clearing.
Middle
One or two paragraphs of real, specific evidence: what you did, and the result. This is where most letters go generic. Yours shouldn't.
Why this employer
One genuine, specific reason you want this job at this company, not any company. Vague enthusiasm reads as a template that wasn't customised.

Re: Application for Advertising Executive
I am applying for the Advertising Executive role at [Company Name]. With experience managing client campaigns from brief through to reporting, and hands-on use of Google Ads, Meta Ads Manager and Google Analytics, I can take on an account book quickly and keep campaigns moving from the first meeting to the final wrap-up.
In my current role I manage campaigns for several clients across retail and services. One client came to us frustrated that their spend was spread evenly across channels with no clear sense of what was actually working. I rebuilt the reporting so performance could be seen by channel and audience, took that back to the client with a recommendation to shift more of the budget into search and paid social, and over the following quarter the campaign brought in more qualified enquiries with noticeably less wasted spend. The client extended the engagement, and the reporting format I built is now used across the wider account team.
I want to work at [Company Name] because [add one genuine, specific reason: a project, value, or market position you can point to]. I am looking for a team where campaign results are discussed openly and where the person managing the account is trusted to bring clients a point of view, not just a status update.
Thank you for considering my application. My resume is attached and I would welcome the chance to talk through how I would approach your clients' campaigns.
Getting it right
- Keep it to one page. A hiring manager spends seconds on this before deciding whether to read your resume.
- Address a named person where you can find one, rather than "To Whom It May Concern".
- Don't repeat your resume line for line. Use the letter to add context a bullet point can't: why this role, why now, why here.
- Match the tone of the job ad. A formal listing calls for a formal letter; a casual one gives you room to write more like yourself.
This is a starting point, not a guarantee of interviews. Make it specific to the actual employer before you send it.
