    Crowd controllers keep people safe at venues and events, managing how crowds enter, move through and leave a site.

    What else you need

    The certificate is the training needed to apply for a crowd controller licence, but the award alone is not a licence. You must apply to your state or territory licensing authority, which sets its own rules (Victoria is cited here), and training must be through an approved RTO.

  • Security Guard

    Security guards protect people, property and premises by watching for anything out of place and stepping in, or calling for backup, when something goes wrong.

    What else you need

    In Victoria this is the required training for an unarmed guard and crowd controller licence, and other states and territories set their own licensing rules. The award alone does not confer a licence: you must also apply to the licensing authority, pass a police check and be at least 18. Training must be with an approved provider.

  • Security Monitoring Operator

    Security monitoring operators watch alarms, cameras and access systems, and work out what needs a response.

    What else you need

    In Victoria this certificate is the training for a control room operator licence, but the award alone is not a licence. Apply to your state or territory licensing authority and check its rules, as they differ by jurisdiction.
